Hollywood Comes to Winchester

10th February 2023

For three nights in early February, audiences gathered in the QEII Theatre for the latest Du Boulay's House play.

Co-Directed by Sixth Form pupils Jeshaiah Murray and Luke Paviour, the cast and crew of almost half the house, put on a side-splitting rendition of Robert Scott’s ‘A Butler Did It! With a three-week turnaround from auditions, pupils from across all year groups worked rapidly and professionally to make the show the success that it was. Evening and weekend rehearsals were organised and run by the co-Directors, under the watchful eye of the house tutor Mme Lombardo.

The plot sees the feuding Butler brothers brought together at the funeral of their Aunt Francesca, where secrets and lies were almost outnumbered by corpses. Throw in a million pounds buried somewhere in the house, a rogue assassin let loose, and an aerobics routine from a 60-year-old, and you have the plot this dark comedy farce.
