Prep Schools Cricket Tournament

23rd May 2019

Winchester College welcomed eight preparatory schools from across the region for its seventh annual U12 cricket tournament. It was a gloriously sunny morning and guests were welcomed with coffee and bacon sandwiches.

The standard is always good and this year was no exception with some very high scores throughout the day. The morning saw matches between Highfield and Westbourne, Caldicott and Cothill, Shrewsbury House and Twyford, Pilgrims' and Cheam. Picturesque Meads provided the perfect setting for lunch before the final group of games got underway with Pilgrims' continuing their winning streak. Pilgrims' met Cothill in the Mills Cup Final, securing a 73 run win.

The prep schools' cricket tournament is a relatively new event in the school's sporting calendar. It provides an excellent opportunity to watch the development of these young sportsman. In fact, two old Wykehamists, who played in the very first prep schools tournament, now play at Lords.
