Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

27th May 2022

On 26 May 2022, the College held a Platinum Jubilee Lunch for the whole school community.  Over 900 attended, including 280 staff, and all rose to give the loyal toast.

This was the first time the whole school had eaten lunch together since a special celebration, which marked the end of the First World War in 1919. But on this occasion there were, for the first time in College history, support staff as well.  Thus pupils, teachers and support staff were seated and entertained alongside one another as all members of the school community joined house tables to celebrate together.

The College is grateful to all the catering teams across the houses for the food, ably assisted by domestics and in-house teams, especially the matrons for co-ordinating. The CCF boys helped set up the tables and chairs whilst the IT, works and facilities teams all assisted with the logistics. All crockery and cutlery was biodegradable and every effort was made to be environmentally friendly as possible. It was a tremendous team effort, resulting in a delicious, traditional lunch, topped off with the National Anthem and Domum, accompanied by the Director of Music.

We wish everyone an enjoyable Platinum Jubilee holiday as we celebrate the remarkable achievement of a truly remarkable monarch.

God Save the Queen!
