Nathan Williams

Geography don and Assistant Housemaster

Mr Williams joined Winchester College in 2018 as a Geography don and Head of Rowing. Currently Assistant Housemaster in Sergeant’s, Nathan is well known by pupils across the school and has a deep understanding of the needs and aspirations of young people.

Nathan read Ancient History and Social Anthropology at Queen’s University, Belfast, before pursuing dual careers in education and rowing, becoming the High Performance Coach for the GB Women’s Rowing team in 2005. He has acquired extensive teaching, coaching and pastoral experience in a range of excellent schools, including St Edward’s, Oxford, and Shrewsbury School.

Taking over from Mr Rich as Housemaster for Trant’s in September 2024, Nathan will be supported by his wife Claire, who has recently stepped down from her role as Housemistress at Downe House where she remains teaching. Nathan, Claire and their beaglier, Flick, look forward to getting to know current and incoming pupils and parents in the weeks and months ahead.
