Helen Rowe

Matron, College

I started my working life in Somerset where I trained to be a nurse. I spent 15 years working on a variety of wards including Paediatrics, Orthopaedics and in the community.  After this I felt the need for a change and worked in housing support, helping clients with mental health issues and learning disabilities, and went on to manage several schemes in Somerset and Devon.

I began my career in boarding schools at Eton and working in several schools before joining Winchester College in 2019.

I love being a Matron: the job is different every day and I am surrounded by the energy of young people and the beauty of the buildings and the grounds. I am very lucky to have a fantastic garden here and even get to keep chickens!
