Celebrating Entrepreneurship With Makyth Ventures and LSE Generate

8th December 2021

Last week Makyth Ventures, (the College's entrepreneurship and innovation hub) hosted a successful two-day event in collaboration with LSE Generate, the London School of Economics' entrepreneurship hub, to mark the end of its stimulating autumn term agenda.

During the first day of the event, aspiring entrepreneurs from both LSE and Winchester College attended keynote presentations around the topics of leadership and venture building delivered by Major-General Jonathan Shaw, one of the Governors of the School, and Laura-Jane Silverman, Head of LSE Generate. Following these presentations, a number of Makyth Ventures' pupils were invited to attend a networking dinner where they had a chance to connect with the LSE entrepreneurs and their panel of investors.

Throughout the second day, pupils had a unique opportunity to attend real-life pitches where LSE entrepreneurs were competing for a chance to win funding of up to £20,000. An incredible array of businesses were presented, from a community-building platform on blockchain to mental health marketplaces.

In this spirit of innovation and impact, pupils also used this opportunity to present some of their own work, addressing the audience on the value of ESG investing, and sharing advice on building and activating communities around business missions.

Makyth Ventures looks forward to more exciting events in the new year, including a hackathon in collaboration with the London Business School Entrepreneurship Society, and the College's first pitching competition.
