Prose and Poetry Competitions

7th May 2023

Each year the school runs two internal writing competitions: The King's Gold Medal for an English essay (short story and non-fiction), and the Warden and Fellows’ Prize for English verse. The competitions are open to all pupils and the judges submit the King’s Gold Medal prize for ratification to the Palace.

The prompt for this year's King’s Gold medal prose prize was ‘Ticket to Ride’ with no minimum or maximum word count, and no limit on form. The prompt for the Warden and Fellows’ Prize for English verse was ‘Change’, with a maximum 40 lines.
