Moberly's is one of the oldest boarding houses at Winchester and still occupies its original site. The three so-called Old Tutors' Houses accommodated boys outside the School walls. Located at 69 Kingsgate Street it accommodates 60 boys in refurbished residential buildings which include three music practice rooms.
Founded by The Revd Harry Moberly, the first Housemaster (1860-1880), and nephew of the Headmaster of the time, Dr. George Moberly, it is formally known as Moberly's but informally as Toye's, after the second Housemaster Jack Toye (1880-1899).
Patrick Herring has been the Housemaster of Toye's since 2007. He teaches French and German and was Head of Modern Languages at Winchester for five years prior to becoming a Housemaster. Patrick is married to Bridget and they have three children.
