Part Time Teacher of Biology 

Winchester College seeks to appoint a well-qualified, able and inspiring part-time teacher of Biology for the 2017/2018 academic year. The successful candidate, who will teach up to IGCSE (Years 9, 10 & 11), will be energetic and enthusiastic about promoting this popular subject.

The College, which was founded in 1382, is a boys' boarding school of 700 pupils. We are committed to the highest standards of academic excellence, first-class pastoral care and the maintenance of a broad and balanced liberal education for all our pupils. Evening Cleaners

Winchester College has vacancies for reliable people to work as Evening Cleaners as part of the Central Cleaning team responsible for the day-to-day cleanliness of all school buildings except the Boarding Houses.
The Cleaners will be expected to follow detailed instructions, and must be capable of meeting the physical requirements of the post. No experience is required as training will be provided, but applicants who have experience of commercial cleaning and COSHH will have an advantage.

Weekend Cleaner

Bursary Accountant  

Winchester College is seeking to appoint a qualified Accountant to work closely with the College's Chief Accountant. The role has both administrative and strategic aspects.

We are looking for someone with a proactive approach, someone who is organised, efficient, and has an outstanding understanding of financial procedures and processes.

The successful candidate will demonstrate experience of providing strategic and financial support up to Board level with strong communication skills, both in writing and in person.

This is an extended term time only position, working 40 weeks per year (32 weeks of term time plus 8 weeks to be spread over the rest of the year). 

Familiarity with schools and charities and charity accounting, whilst not essential, would be a distinct advantage.

Recreation Assistant (Lifeguard) - Full-time

Winchester College has a vacancy in the team at the PE Centre for a Recreation Assistant (Lifeguard). The successful candidate will need to be flexible as regards working hours, reliable and a committed team-player. They will be involved in all key aspects of operational services across all areas of the PE Centre, including the Fitness Room, Sports Hall, Pool and Reception. A National Pool Lifeguard qualification and a Level 2 Fitness Certificate are essential; however, training will be provided if necessary.

This permanent post will be worked over a seven-day shift pattern, working 40 hours, with a requirement for at least one weekend per month.

School Nurse

Winchester College has a rare part-time vacancy (18 hours per week, term time only) for a qualified Nurse in the school Medical Centre. Working alongside the Lead Nurse, the principal responsibility of the Nurse is the provision of medical care for pupils and, where appropriate, staff and visitors, and for the efficient operation of the Medical Centre. The Medical Centre supports the whole school and is operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in term time.

Candidates must be RSCN or RGN qualified.

The College requires the Medical Centre to be staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week in term time. The shifts available are: 0700 - 1400 (7 hours); 1330 - 2030 (7 hours); 2000 - 0730 (11.5 hours (7 hours permitted sleep time when appropriate).

Apprentice Gardener

The Gardens and Grounds Department has an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Gardener.

The successful applicant must be an enthusiastic and hardworking individual, who is prepared to make the very best of this opportunity to develop his or her gardening skills. The successful candidate will be required to attend a relevant gardening course at a College of Further Education. A clear aptitude for this skill must have been demonstrated.

Some experience of working in large-scale gardens would be advantageous.

Candidates should be aware of the physical nature of the position, and of the requirement to work in all weather conditions. This post requires the use of powered machinery and involves working at heights.

Domestics (Weekend and Evenings)

Winchester College has vacancies for reliable people to work as Domestics (weekend and evenings) in several Boarding Houses, carrying out general cleaning duties and assisting in the Dining Room serving meals. The ideal candidates must be self-motivated and able to work both on their own and as part of a team, and should display a high level of integrity and attention to detail. These roles are term-time only, working various shifts, from weekends 9.00am to 2.00pm to evenings (Monday to Sunday) 5.00pm to 7.00pm.
