Part-time Teacher of German

Winchester College seeks to appoint a part-time Teacher of German from January 2019. The successful candidate will teach German from beginner to Pre-U and university entrance level and will be energetic and enthusiastic about promoting this popular subject.

This position will be for up to fourteen 35-minute teaching periods per week and may involve some Saturday-morning teaching.

The College, which was founded in 1382, is a boys' boarding school of 700 pupils. HR Manager 

Winchester College seeks to appoint an HR Manager to join the developing HR team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys an operational HR role.

The HR Manager will provide comprehensive HR and employee relations guidance in the support of non-teaching line managers across the school. Key responsibilities will include providing advice on performance management, staff training, staff recruitment, leavers and retirement, terms and conditions of employment, and disciplinary actions and grievances. The post-holder will also manage HR projects and support organisational development.

This post will suit an experienced HR generalist who is happy to take ownership of the role, who is capable of great attention to detail and has strong knowledge of UK Employment Law, and who is

a gifted communicator and relationship builder with a proactive and independent approach to the job.

Qualified to CIPD Level 7 essential, previous experience of the education sector an advantage.

Kitchen Assistant

Winchester College is looking for a reliable person to work in a Boarding House during term time only, helping in the preparation of ingredients and supporting the kitchen team in all duties. This role is term-time only, working Monday to Saturday 9.00am - 2.00pm, with the possibility of some evening shifts 5.00pm -7.00pm.

Domestic Services Supervisor

Winchester College requires a Supervisor to oversee domestic services in the Boarding Houses, taking charge of the domestic staff, and ensuring that all expectations are met, especially the maintenance of high cleaning standards.

The successful candidate will have the ability to manage a team so that outstanding results are achieved and exemplary standards of cleaning provided at all times.

Applicants should have proven leadership skills as well as recent experience of working in a multi-site environment, supervising the work of teams of cleaning staff, including the preparation and delivery of appropriate training and analysis of staffing levels.

A ‘hands-on' practical approach coupled with excellent oral and good written communication skills will be essential.

Catering Assistant/Waiting Staff (College Hall Steward) (term time only position)

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Catering Assistant in our College catering team. The successful applicant will be a highly motivated team player, who can deliver outstanding customer service.

The College catering team are responsible for looking after the day-to-day catering requirements of College Hall, the medieval dining hall in which the scholars, the Master in College and his guests take all their meals in term-time. College Hall is also used for entertaining, both for formal College events and, in the College holidays, those booked through the commercial letting department of the College.

The College maintains high standards of quality and presentation at all times, and it is important that the Catering Assistant is of smart personal appearance. Ideally, the successful applicant will have had experience in the catering/hospitality industry, but this is not essential, as training will be provided.

Owing to the nature of the historical buildings throughout the College, the postholder will be expected to be able to meet the reasonable physical demands of the post.

This is a term time only position, 25 - 30 hours per week. Weekend and evening work will routinely be expected.

Recreation Assistant (Lifeguard) - Full-time

Winchester College has a vacancy in the team at the PE Centre for a Recreation Assistant (Lifeguard). The successful candidate will need to be flexible as regards working hours, reliable and a committed team-player. They will be involved in all key aspects of operational services across all areas of the PE Centre, including the Fitness Room, Sports Hall, Pool and Reception. A National Pool Lifeguard qualification and a Level 2 Fitness Certificate are essential.

This permanent post will involve working for 40 hours per week over a seven-day shift pattern, with a requirement for alternate weekend work.
