School Nurse

Winchester College has a vacancy for a qualified Nurse in the school Medical Centre. Working alongside the Lead Nurse, the principal responsibility of the Nurse is the provision of medical care for pupils and, where appropriate, staff and visitors, and for the efficient operation of the Medical Centre. The Medical Centre supports the whole school and is operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in term time.

Candidates must be RSCN or RGN qualified.

The College requires the Medical Centre to be staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week in term time. Shifts available are: 0700 - 1400 (7 hours); 1330 - 2030 (7 hours); 2000 - 0730 (11.5 hours (7 hours permitted sleep time when appropriate).

Chef de Partie

The College seeks to appoint a Chef de Partie who will work under the direction of the Head Chef and will be one of a team working in College Hall kitchens. He/she will have responsibilities attached to the daily routine of the House life, including the provision of all daily meals in term-time for up to 70 boys, the Housemaster and his/her guests, and for formal occasions during term time. Standards are high, and meals are prepared daily from fresh ingredients. The ability to work quickly according to the requirements of the kitchen team is essential for this role.

Transport Manager

Winchester College seeks to appoint a Transport Manager who will be responsible for the provision of passenger transport services for the school. A team of drivers and a Minibus Cleaner/Technician are also employed, and report to the post-holder.

The Transport Manager is required to hold a full clean UK licence, including Category D1 and/or a MiDAS qualification. If a MiDAS certification is not already held, a willingness to undertake this training would be required, along with the Minibus Compliance Course accredited by the Independent Schools' Bursars' Association (ISBA) and RoSPA.

He/she should have experience of driving large vehicles and ideally, vehicles with trailers, and have some knowledge of vehicle maintenance. A ‘can-do' attitude and good humour to resolve challenges are essential.

This position is for 30 hours per week, Monday to Saturday 9.00am - 3.00pm.

Communications Officer

Winchester College seeks to make an appointment to the new role of Communications Officer.

The successful applicant will primarily be responsible for leading on the development and production of creative content across our existing and emerging digital and print platforms. This will include the school website (due to relaunch early 2019), social media channels and school publications.

The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate experience in creating engaging and differentiating content, using creative copy, photography, video and design. A track record in building and increasing engaged audiences on social media channels is preferred, as is experience or understanding of building and delivering a social media content calendar. Head of Art History

Winchester College seeks to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic Head of Art History for September 2019.

The study of Art History has a long and distinguished history at Winchester. Many pupils go on to study Art History and related subjects at top universities.

Administrator/Receptionist

The Wykeham Sports Club is based at Winchester College Sports Centre. We are currently seeking a part-time Administrator/ Receptionist to work on the front desk.

Strong computer skills are essential for this role, along with good customer-service skills, the ability to work calmly when under pressure and an approachable manner when dealing with our customers/members. Duties will include dealing with membership and hirer enquiries, making bookings, answering the telephone, taking payments and greeting people at the desk.

The pattern of work is across a two-week period to give alternate Saturdays off. The post-holder will work Monday, Tuesday and Friday and alternate Saturdays.

Contracts Manager (Works Department)

Winchester College seeks to appoint a Contracts Manager for the Works Department.

The Works Department of Winchester College is a valued and respected support service at the very heart of the school with a reputation for excellent quality and friendly staff. However, in order to meet increasing demands, the College is currently seeking to modernise this department.

As Head of Department, the new Works Manager will occupy a pivotal role. Candidates will ideally have both experience in the implementation of building works, and the personality and drive to effect changes inside a trades-based organisation. This appointment offers the right candidate the opportunity not just to work in and support one of the most prestigious schools in the country, but also, while doing so, to help shape the future of its Works Department.

Currently the annual budget for the Works Department is c £3-4m, including reactive and planned maintenance. External contractors are used for individual capital projects.

Chef

Winchester College seeks to appoint a Chef to work in a boarding house during term time, preparing meals from fresh ingredients for about 60-65 covers. The successful applicant will have a sound understanding of nutrition and kitchen hygiene. Qualified/experienced to at least NVQ2 (or equivalent), he/she should have experience in menu planning, stock-control and budgeting and, importantly, be prepared to work as part of a team.
