CATERING SUPERVISOR -WINCHESTER COLLEGE

A responsible and organised person is sought to work as part of an in-house team, assisting the Functions Manager in planning and supervising both day-to-day catering needs and formal College events. Good communication skills are required, but experience of catering is not essential as training can be given. However, the work does involve the lifting and moving of catering equipment and supplies around the College and there may also be a need to move some heavy items in order to set up for events. This is a permanent hands-on post working 40 hours per week, 52 weeks of the year.

KITCHEN ASSISTANT - WINCHESTER COLLEGE

Winchester College is looking for a reliable person to work in a boarding house during term time only, helping in the preparation of ingredients and supporting the kitchen team in all cleaning duties. This demanding role is term-time only, working 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 2.00pm, Sunday 9.00am to 2.00pm.

The successful applicant will be encouraged to progress eventually to learn basic Level 2 preparation, and cookery, leading to a recognised qualification.

Resident Housekeeper/Matron

Winchester College has a vacancy for a Resident Housekeeper/Matron. Founded by Royal Charter in 1382, Winchester remains one of England's premier independent schools, with a firmly established and enviable reputation. It has 700 pupils accommodated in eleven boarding houses and 350 full-time equivalent employees. Working collaboratively with the Housemaster, the Housekeeper/Matron is accountable for the pastoral care and well-being of up to 65 boys aged 13-18 years. He/she must have an adaptable professional approach in order to manage the House, House Surgery, domestic staff and everything from supply ordering to the upkeep of accounts. He/she also liaises with parents and the School's Medical Centre on medical and welfare matters and must be fully prepared to respond to emergencies. A full clean driving licence and a car of his/her own are essential.

Language Assistant (Maternity Cover) - Russian

The School seeks to appoint a Language Assistant to teach Russian throughout the School. The appointment will be term-time only, 8-11 hours per week, and will commence on 1 September 2016 and conclude in April 2017.

This is a temporary post to cover the absence of a member of staff on maternity leave.

HEAD CHEF

The College currently has a term-time-only Boarding House Head Chef vacancy. The successful applicant, who will be responsible for preparing meals from fresh ingredients for about 60 covers, will have a sound understanding of nutrition and kitchen hygiene. Qualified to NVQ3 (or equivalent), he/she should have experience in menu-planning, stock-control and budgeting, and should be happy to work as part of a team. This role is term-time-only, working 39 hours per week Monday to Sunday.

Winchester College has vacancies for reliable people to work as Domestics (weekend and evenings) in several Boarding Houses, carrying out general cleaning duties and assisting in the Dining Room serving meals. The ideal candidates must be self-motivated and able to work both on their own and as part of a team, and should display a high level of integrity and attention to detail. These roles are term-time only, working various shifts, from weekends 9.00am to 2.00pm to evenings (Monday to Sunday) 5.00pm to 7.00pm.
