Admissions
Admissions
The admission of boys to Winchester at age thirteen is largely in the hands of Housemasters. When a boy is eight years old his name can be registered for entry into the School as a prospective member of a particular boarding House.

Education
Education
A Winchester education is unique. Our pupils enjoy good teaching and our teachers enjoy the liveliness of bright pupils. Success in examinations is one consequence of this, but we think it more important to encourage boys to love learning.

Pastoral Care
Pastoral Care
Everything we do at Winchester is an aspect of our pastoral care of the boys; classes, sports teams, clubs and societies. We are a fully resident community and we think of ourselves as a network of friends.

The Winchester College pupils have the use of the superb four court Squash facility that were built because of the kindness of honorary Wykehamist, Al Gordon. The squash courts are utilised by a large majority of the pupils at the School either for recreation or as a major interest. There are ladders for all pupils to join and from which the three school teams are selected. For the competitive players there are inter-house competitions for the Peach Pot and Plate trophies as well as matches against other schools either in the inter-school matches or in the England Squash National Schools competition and matches against other Clubs in the Hampshire Leagues.
Squash is a very popular sport at the school and is part of the first year option programme. Coaching for players of all standards is available from the Squash Professional, Richard Atkinson.
