The River Itchen
The College owns about 41/2 miles double bank of the famed River Itchen - one of the two best chalk streams in the world. Isaak Walton, Lord Grey of Fallodon, Francis Francis and G. E. M. Skues all fished the College water in their time.

There is still a flourishing Fishing Club open to all boys during term time, and Old Wykehamists during the holidays. Each boy is permitted to fish three days per week.

Expert tuition is available to the novice. Rod Box fishing tackle is competitively priced and the River Keeper, Mark Sankey, always has a stock of flies and casts.

The fishing is upstream dry fly, with barbless hooks, and our Itchen bred brown trout range in size from 1 - 4 lbs in weight.

Both the College Fishing Club and the OW Clubs are run by the Estates Bursar, Robin Chute who is contactable at the Bursary - when he is not fishing!
