Running has a strong pedigree and tradition at Winchester, with the mind over matter approach suiting Wykehamists well.

Boys of all abilities are welcome with training sessions occurring all year round. In Short Half the focus is on the three inter-house steeplechases, with 100-200 boys competing in each one. In common Time the club turns to team and individual competitions racing in, for example the Wellington, Bryanston and Canford relays as well as holding our own event where we host up to 8 schools. Boys who show promise also get the opportunity to represent Hampshire in the 6 County South East Championships and Nationals.

In 2017 Winchester retained the Bryanston Relays and Canford Relays trophies that it had won the previous year, as well as recording the fastest and second fastest leg times at the Bryanston Relays. As in 2016, the two top senior runners represented Hampshire at the South East Regional Inter County competition.
