Surrounded by like-minded peers and guided by inspirational teachers, you’ll go beyond the confines of the syllabus, engaging with ideas that challenge, excite, and prepare you for a future of influence and impact.
Most importantly, as Sixth Form entrants you will join a school with more than 600 years of history and a deeply embedded culture of manners, kindness and acceptance.
We look forward to welcoming you.
Our expert subject specialists, teaching in small class sizes, will push you beyond the limitations of the A-level syllabus, equipping you with the analytical skills and depth of knowledge needed for university entry and beyond.
Through ‘Div’, our unique programme of non-examined cultural inquiry, you’ll transcend disciplines and explore ideas unrestrained by conventional academic boundaries to develop the intellectual agility required to shape the future.
Founder’s Scholarships are available to new pupils joining the Sixth Form and are awarded purely on academic merit and are not means-tested. Recipients benefit from a 25% remission of school fees.
We offer both day and boarding options for Sixth Form pupils, including welcoming our first Sixth Form girl boarders into two purpose-built boarding houses from September 2026 – an exciting new chapter in our history. On joining, day pupils will become a member of one of the school’s boarding houses to ensure seamless integration into school life.
In an era of increasing pressures and distractions, full boarding at Sixth Form gives you the time to pursue your interests, build the independence required to navigate the modern world, and develop lifelong friendships with peers from a diversity of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
As a Sixth Form pupil at Winchester, there is an unparalleled number of extra-curricular opportunities for you to explore, with dedicated time every afternoon to pursue them.
You’ll lead and take part in our extensive range of clubs and societies – from welcoming speakers from the world of politics, business and the natural environment to societies focused on entrepreneurship, journalism and AI, to name but a few.
All pupils also take part in a service-led activity once a week, such as Community Service or the Combined Cadet Force (CCF), making meaningful contributions to society a core part of your Winchester experience.
Nothing is more important to us than your wellbeing. That’s why pastoral care lies at the heart of our community.
Your House becomes an extended family, with housemasters, housemistresses, matrons and tutors offering guidance and support throughout your time here. Close by, you’ll also be able to make use of the Health and Wellbeing Centre which is staffed by a team of medical professionals, including nurses, our School Doctor and counsellors.
Within this close-knit community, lifelong friendships are formed, and you’ll receive all the encouragement needed to succeed academically, socially, and personally.
Since the school was founded in 1382, Winchester has developed pupils who go on to shape society.
That continues today, where you’ll benefit from our Futures programme: designed to empower you with personalised university and career advice. Winchester pupils consistently gain places at the world’s leading institutions, from Oxbridge to Ivy League, as well as a range of prestigious global universities.
Meanwhile, a series of alumni expert panels connect you with an extensive network of Wykehamists across industries worldwide, helping to prepare you to go on and make a meaningful impact in the world.
We welcome bright, inquisitive pupils, irrespective of background.
We have a substantial bursaries programme, which can cover 100% of school fees and additional costs for eligible pupils.
The Wykeham Award is a dedicated bursary available for those pupils who join us in the Sixth Form and are currently studying at a UK state secondary school.
