From the Second Master

Term Dates 2026-27

A reminder that term dates can be found on the school website Term Dates | Winchester College and are published well in advance. We would kindly ask that parents respect these dates and timings when making travel arrangements, providing plenty of advance notice where other circumstances might make this impossible.

Staying cool in warm weather

As the temperatures rise, we are mindful of the impact of warm weather on pupils. We are continuing to review planned activities, adapting them where necessary to ensure everyone stays safe and comfortable. We are reminding pupils to drink plenty of water throughout the day and encouraging regular breaks in the shade.

Wishing all families a restful summer break.

Please find a selection of images from the post GCSE activities below.

Athletics success

We were very proud of the boys who represented Hampshire at the SE Inter-counties athletics championships recently with six new PB’s among them.

Particular congratulations go to Christopher W (B), Emmanuel O (K) and Osamede A (G) who have all gained selection to compete at the English Schools’ Athletics Association championships in July.

Welcoming the First Residents of St Cross

It was wonderful to welcome the first residents of St Cross, our new Sixth Form girls’ boarding house, during their induction at the weekend, where they had the opportunity to explore their new home.

Calling all Wine lovers…

Wednesday 24th June

For anyone who is interested in wine, how it is made and marketed…

To coincide with ‘English Wine Week’, we have teamed up with an award-winning Hampshire vineyard, Candover Brook, where exceptional sparkling wine is crafted through regenerative viticulture.

The evening will feature a short film followed by a Q&A with co-founder and owner Mark Sainsbury (of the supermarket family); Candover Brook’s wine grower, Samuel Philippot; and the Director of Farming of the Sainsbury estates, Craig Livingstone.

Musical accompaniment in the gardens will be provided by our very own Mr. Matt King.
