Wykehamists hold their own against Abingdon & Bryanston

Sport

Abingdon and Bryanston visited for our first home climbing fixture of the year, bringing a welcome sense of energy to the Winchester climbing wall.

The competition was friendly but keenly contested, with new routes adding interest and challenge for all involved. Abingdon arrived with a strong team, including a GB climber, and ultimately took the overall win.

Both Winchester teams climbed well and contributed to a lively and enjoyable afternoon.

Results:
1st – Abingdon
2nd – Winchester A
3rd – Bryanston
4th – Winchester B

24-Hour Music Concert

Charities

As part of Community Weekend, the Charities Committee will be hosting a 24-hour Music Concert in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH), running from 16:00 on Saturday 7th February, to 16:00 on Sunday. The event will feature continuous livestreamed performances from over 100 pupils and staff.

Parents are very welcome to join in person for selected concerts, including the Concerto Competition, Candlelight Compline and the JP Music Award Holders’ Concert, or to watch via the YouTube livestream (the link will be shared closer to the concert).

All money raised will go directly to GOSH, helping to support seriously ill children and their families through vital care, as well as purchasing equipment and funding research. Donations are warmly appreciated, as the Committee works towards a fundraising target of £7,200, just £5 for every minute of music.

Bobber’s Boys: a talk about A Noble Company, a book by Shaun Hullis.

Wednesday 18 March 2026

Last year the book A Noble Company was launched at the College. Known unofficially as Bobber’s Boys, it is written by a former don and is based on the correspondence between Housemaster, Malcolm Robertson (The Bobber), and his Hopperites who fought in the Second World War.

We are delighted that the author, Shaun Hullis (CoRo, 2002-08) will be discussing the book in conversation with Mike Wallis (CoRo, 1986-2020), ex-CCF Commander and Battlefield Tour expert. There will be an opportunity to purchase signed copies of the book.

Sign up below and read some more about the story behind Bobber’s Boys.
