Maths Outreach at Winchester

Winchester College’s Maths Outreach programme offers free courses for able and enthusiastic pupils from local state schools in Years 3 – 13 and forms part of the school’s Community Service. Much of the material is relevant to UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT) competitions.

Activities on offer

Win@Maths: Club for year 3 pupils. Pupils work in pairs with Sixth Formers.

MathsBeasts: Club for year 3 pupils. Pupils work in pairs with Sixth Formers.

PMC Club: A series of sessions to prepare pupils for the Primary Maths Challenge (PMC), a contest run by the MA.

PMC: Pupils in years 5 and 6 who are not sitting the PMC at their primary school, may sit the paper at Winchester College even if they are not attending the PMC club.

PMC Celebration: An event for pupils who sat the PMC at the College. This includes the presentation of certificates and a short mathematical talk.

Problem Solving 1: Our problem solving club for years 7 and 8 focuses on the skills needed in the Junior Maths Challenge and Junior Maths Olympiad run by the UKMT.

Problem Solving 2: Our problem solving club for years 9, 10 and 11 focuses on the skills needed in the Intermediate Maths Challenge and Intermediate Maths Olympiad run by the UKMT.

Olympiad Club: A series of sessions looking problems from the British Maths Olympiad round 1.
