Working in a full boarding environment provides enormous variety, for both dons and boys. Since arriving at the school, I have run a coding club, coached soccer and refereed Winchester College Football!
It is very rewarding to see that the boys here take mathematics very seriously, and they often stay behind after lessons to ask for help with a problem they have been thinking about, or to show me a new piece of mathematics they have stumbled upon.
My colleagues are equally enthusiastic and have taught me numerous unique methods of teaching mathematics. Even the library holds surprises, for example, the century-old mathematics books written by C. V. Durell, who once taught here and wrote many mathematical textbooks, that I sometimes set problems from.
