My experience as a mother of four grown up children, and my career as a general and paediatric nurse in hospitals, has prepared me well for life as a Matron. I believe in the values of honesty, integrity, respect, empathy and compassion, that underpin both my life and my work. Looking after 70 boys requires diplomacy and I encourage boys to broaden their outlooks by participating in the many extra-curricular activities on offer at the school.
I enjoy experiencing other cultures and have benefitted from working and travelling in the Far East, China and Australia. Aside from family and caring for others, I am passionate about garden design, horticulture and conserving the historic fabric of old buildings and gardens. Following a return to university a few years ago I started and ran my own business involving design and landscaping. I think there is something rather magical and life affirming about bringing life and personality to a garden and, in many ways, this is similar to nurturing the interests of young people and seeing them flourish within the fertile and beautiful surroundings of College.
