We understand that seeing the school is an important part of knowing whether Winchester is the right school for you or your child.  We offer both Registrar’s Tours and Open Days as a good way to get a sense of the community and culture that a Winchester education offers.

Registrar's Tours

The Registrar’s Tour is a small gathering of no more than 15 families that affords you the chance to see the school on a normal, working day. You will be welcomed by the Registrar and then taken on a tour of the school by one of our senior pupils, including their boarding house.  A Q&A session awaits on your return where you will be able to ask any question about Winchester to an experienced panel comprising the Registrar, a Housemaster, a matron and a member of the teaching staff.

Open Days

13+ Entry

Open Days are available to families when your son is in Year 4 and Year 5. They are similar to Registrar’s Tours but on a bigger scale. A maximum of 65 families are accommodated at Open Days.

You will be welcomed by the Headmaster and then take a tour of the school with a senior boy. There is also the opportunity to take part in some of the activities on offer at the school. Senior staff host a Q&A session before lunch and you will have the chance to meet Housemasters and visit a boarding house.

Sixth Form

These are held in September for boys and girls in Year 11. You will be welcomed by the Headmaster before being taken on a tour of the school, including a visit to one of our Houses. You can ask questions of senior staff in a Q&A session and will have lunch with our Heads of Department. This is an opportunity to ask questions about the A Level subjects you are interested in studying and about the extra-curricular life of the school.  You will also have the chance to see some of the school’s extraordinary collections and to hear about Div, our multi-disciplinary programme, which is at the heart of a Winchester education.
