William Empson Society

It will be based on some works which the cartoonist Martin Rowson has made for Shandy Hall, Sterne's home in Coxwold, North Yorkshire. These extraordinary works, and the originals of some of the pages from Martin  Rowson's wild pictorial take on Tristram Shandy, will be on view.

Patrick Wildgust, curator of Shandy Hall, will speak about Sterne and Shandy Hall; and then Martin Rowson will talk about his own response to Sterne.

Visitors from outside the School are decidedly encouraged to contribute generously to the Laurence Sterne Trust.
