The Friends of Winchester College
This organisation was formed in 1989 with the objective of forming a closer bond between the College, the local community, parents, staff, Wykehamists and past visitors through the arrangement of special events, and by generally encouraging local residents to take part in College activities.

Events
Lectures: four lectures are held in the two winter terms at Win Coll in Short Half and Common Time. Speakers range from famous (or infamous!) Old Wykehamists, to renowned speakers on a wide variety of subjects. Lectures are usually held in the historic surroundings of School, the 17th Century school-room of Winchester College, and are preceded by a glass or two of wine.
Drinks Reception: held every other year in a marquee on Meads, this informal gathering brings together Friends in the beautiful grounds of Winchester College to enjoy a glass of wine and canapés. The next Reception will take place in 2010.
Outing: every two years the Friends organise an outing to a place of special interest. The two most recent trips have been to the Queen's Gallery in Buckingham Palace and a Sculpture Garden near Salisbury.
Concert in Music School: a new fixture on the Friends calendar, this annual concert, given by the Music School as a thank-you for Friends support, has become a firm favourite with music lovers who appreciate the talent and skill of the School's young performers.
The Summer Ball: the highlight of the Summer Season in Winchester, this bi-annual event has grown in popularity in recent years. With up to 500 people attending in a variety of venues around the School, parties of up to 10 per table can be accommodated.
