Tax efficient ways of giving
There are a number of ways that you can make a donation tax-efficiently. Tax relief can be of considerable benefit both to us, and you, the donor: We can offer tax efficient ways to give in the UK, USA and elsewhere in the world. Please ask the Development Office for more information or telephone +44 (0)1962 621217.
Making a cash gift or regular giving
You can either make a one-off gift or make regular contributions over time. In both cases, if you are a UK tax-payer, Winchester College can reclaim tax through the Gift Aid scheme, simply by entering the details on your tax return.

Legacies
The making of a bequest in your Will can be a remarkably tax efficient and effective way of making a gift to Winchester. The Goddard Legacy Society is for all those who intend to leave such a legacy and once a bequest is made it is an automatic privilege to become a member. We are always pleased to welcome new members to its current membership of over 175.
All bequests to Winchester College are exempt from Inheritance Tax which is currently 40%. However, from April 2012 there will be a reduced rate of Inheritance Tax of 36% for estates leaving a legacy to charity. If you leave 10% or more of your estate to charity, then the government will take 10% off your Inheritance Tax rate.
If you are considering leaving a legacy to the School, please contact the Development Office or telephone +44 (0)1962 621217.

Shares
Share giving provides the most generous tax relief available to donors, combining relief from Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax. If you are thinking of making a donation to the Winchester College Wykeham Campaign and if you are also thinking about selling shares, do consider combining the two; not only will the School benefit from your gift, but you will also benefit (perhaps considerably) from tax relief.

Transnational Giving Europe
Benefactors in a number of European countries can make tax-efficient donations to Winchester College through this collaborative giving scheme. Transnational Giving Europe (TGE) is a partnership of leading European foundations that facilitates tax-efficient cross-border giving within Europe. TGE is currently operational for donations from and to at least a dozen European countries.
The TGE network enables donors resident in one of the participating countries (both corporations and individuals) to financially support non-profit organisations in other member countries, while benefiting directly from the tax advantages provided for in the legislation of their country of residence.
For information on how to proceed, please refer to the TGE Brochure .
