The aim of the organisation is to promote a wider understanding of the school's approach to education by acting as a link between the school, Friends and other educational institutions in Hong Kong.

Winchester has a distinguished entry from Hong Kong and greatly values its association with the Hong Kong community. The Friends of Winchester College in Hong Kong held the third New Parents Gathering on the 15th August, 2008. As in previous years, the event received an enthusiastic response and was attended by a total of 40 people, including Executive Committee Members, Mr Tim Parkinson (Winchester College Education Officer for the Asian Region), Nike Lau (the first scholar of The Friends), parents and boys. At the Gathering, Dr. The Hon. Sir David K.P. Li (Chairman of The Friends), gave an opening address to the participants. Mr. Tim Parkinson welcomed all our guests to the function, and Nike Lau shared his experiences at Winchester College with the participants. Nike has just graduated from Winchester. He will pursue his pre-clinical Medical Degree at Pembroke College, Cambridge in the coming academic year. The Executive Committee Members, Mrs Wendy Kwok, Mrs Michelle Cheung and Mrs Yvonne Hariman, also shared their experiences with the new parents. This Gathering provided a good opportunity for the parents and their sons to gain a better understanding about life at Winchester College.
