Winchester College

Careers and Higher Education

The Careers Department at Winchester College aims to provide guidance to all pupils on course options, university choices, work experience and gap year opportunities. We work in conjunction with Morrisby to provide psychometric testing and ensure each pupil is interviewed independently by a professional. Taster courses, in a variety of professions, are also arranged and have proved extremely popular. Interview guidance, aimed at university entrance, is offered to those in the Lower Sixth.

There are two Careers days each year giving pupils the opportunity to meet Admissions Tutors from the top UK universities and to talk to Old Wykehamists from a range of professions, who generously give up their time to support pupils and help to arrange work experience opportunities.

A Digital Awareness Course is run once a year to alert pupils to potential hazards and make the most of professional platforms such as LinkedIn.

SAT preparation is offered for those looking to continue their education further afield. We are also fortunate to have many of the Ivy League University Admission Tutors visit Winchester. Several Wykehamists in the past have taken advantage of the generous scholarships offered by universities in America.

The Careers office and Library, which has a wealth of useful resources, is open from Monday to Saturday and on Parents' days. A Careers booklet is published each year and sent out to parents.
