Winchester College

Annual Fund

There are many things that make a Winchester education special: the beautiful historic buildings, a high staff-pupil ratio, excellent music facilities, the provision of minority but important languages such as Greek, Russian, Chinese and Japanese and the wealth of extracurricular activities available to each boy. But all this comes at a cost and the reality is that as a school we receive in fee income considerably less than we need to spend.

The Annual Fund gives parents and Old Wykehamists the opportunity to support the School in a way that will have an immediate beneficial effect. This regular giving programme creates crucial annual revenue to enable us to enhance the School's educational provision and extracurricular activities, while safeguarding its endowment.

Your regular donations, combined with those of others, will make a significant impact upon the quality of the Winchester experience for our boys. Each year you will be helping us with the development of a variety of much needed projects.

The Telephone Campaign

This year's telephone campaign was extremely successful. Twelve young OWs were recruited to man the telephones and a significant amount of money was raised for the Annual Fund and for bursaries. The short telephone conversations afforded the opportunity for young OWs to find out about life after Winchester, acquire valuable advice about careers and in some cases even receive an offer of work experience. This year a Fellow generously agreed to be the challenge donor for the phone campaign, pledging a certain amount for every donation made to the campaign.

In total £175,000 was raised, including the challenge donation, and in addition the School also received a £50,000 legacy pledge.

Thank you to all the OWs who took part in the phone campaign and for supporting the work of Winchester College.
