Cloister Time 2018

Winchester College

Adventure Education Easter Trip 2018

Pupils participating in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award programme enjoyed highly successful expeditions in South Wales at the end of the holiday.

The Silver practice expedition took place in the lowland environment south-west of Hay-on-Wye, where participants received some training on the first day and were then let loose to take responsibility for themselves subsequently.

The Gold participants went into the Black Mountains for training in all aspects of expeditioning, including navigation, campcraft, movement on steep ground and first aid. At times the visibility was limited to less than 50 m which significantly increased the level of challenge.

Everyone involved performed exceptionally well and completed the necessary steps to move on to the next stage of the programme. We eagerly anticipate the summer expeditions!
